In addition to the pugs, the Bolognese puppy, actually a breed specially bred for quail hunting, was very popular as a pet among noblewomen in the 18th century. Kaendler mentions the long-haired, cute little animal, only in his taxa of the models manufactured and delivered since 1740 in connection with another dog of this type: “2. Polognese shaggy dogs, looking at each other on camine, one of them hazing, the other sitting upright … “
